Solid Waste Management

The Office of Solid Waste Coordinator manages the County’s garbage collection service, investigates complaints on nuisance property, and investigates illegal dumping sites. SWC oversees the enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Plan and submits the county’s annual Solid Waste Report to the Division of Waste Management. They work closely with the Division of Air Quality and Division of Water within the Environmental Cabinet. Other duties include the supervision of all roadside litter pickup and community cleanups, as well as prosecuting those who dump their garbage illegally.

In addition to waste collection and disposal, Solid Waste Management provides educational resources and community programs to encourage recycling, composting, and waste reduction. The department works to maintain clean and safe communities by promoting responsible disposal practices, conserving natural resources, and supporting environmental stewardship. By delivering these services, the department helps ensure a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable environment for all residents of Bracken County.
